Zoo Day

Monday turned out to be a really nice day in the 70's so we went to the Tulsa Zoo. Now for all my family who aren't familiar with the Arkansas weather, let me tell you.... you never know what you will get. Saturday it was in the 40's and here on Monday the 70's. Crazy right?

So anyways we went with a few friends from our playgroup and Tiffany. Skylee was in one of those "no pictures please" moods so getting a snapshot of her was almost impossible. But we did have a super nice time.

Lately Skylee has been dragging around a giraffe Webkinz named Sookie. Skylee really wanted the giraffes to meet her Sookie. Skylee also wants me to tell all of you that they are raising money for a new giraffe feeding tower at the Tulsa Zoo. They have 2 new female giraffes, and Skylee really wants to feed these things so "everyone needs to pay". Apparently she thinks that we are all made of money!

A fave of ours was the penguins. Usually they just hang out waiting for food, but instead they were swimming and coming right up to the windows. Very cool.

This monkey was one of Skylee's faves. It is one that sat next to Skylee at the window on previous visits. Today it was such a nice day that even the animals chose to be outside.

Hey aren't there supposed to be horses pulling this thing. Here we are with Diesel, Ryan and Claire.

And I couldn't get Skylee to be in this picture. So That would be me in glasses, and the only adult in the pic. Come on kid, live a little. It is okay to be a little silly!

For some reason I have never noticed this bear at the zoo before. Kind of cool.

Here is Skylee taking pics on her camera. That is her absolute fave thing to do right now. It has picture and video camera settings. When she isn't taking pics of the pets, she is filming herself pretending to be iCarly. If you haven't seen this show, it's about 3 preteens that carry on their own web show. Kinda cute.

And this week in preschool they are learning about owls and other animals that come out at night. So we took this pic just for her to share at Show and Tell.

All in all a pretty good day. the zoos here don't match up to San Diego, but they are still a lot of fun for us to do.
Today we also had an eye exam and it was the first time they dilated her eyes. She had some redness in her eye we needed to check it out so off we went. The redness is like a bruise. She most likely was poked in the eye recently and it should heal within 7 days. Her vision is 20/40 and is about normal for her age. She may end up being near sighted like Damien and I but no need for glasses at this point. The Dr and I ended up tag team style holding her down to get the eye drops in and it was horrible. When we left I got to wear a really cool looking pair of disposable glasses while Skylee wore my own sunglasses.
They used pictures during the eye test instead of letters and when the Dr showed her a butterfly Skylee told her it was mariposa. Well the Dr turned to me and asked "what did she say?"
I had her repeat it and the Dr said that is the Spanish word for butterfly. Who knew? Kind of neat to see that Dora the Explorer and Ne Hao Kai Lan are paying off. Kind of crazy they learn stuff from today's cartoons. So this led me to make a list of things I learned from cartoons as a kid...

Proper hand placement when sword fighting (He-Man)
GI Joe is the real American Hero (GI Joe)
Despite what scientists say there ARE little bears living in the clouds and God forbid if they stare at you (Care Bears)
How to kick my sister's butt by eating my spinach (popeye)

Well coming up for us is two Halloween parties this weekend, a school party and Halloween itself. So we will have a bunch of stuff to share!

Really?

Ok here it is Monday morning. I just got off work a few hours ago and I should be sleeping right? Nope! Silly me, I forgot to turn in my time sheet. So after sleeping for about 30 minutes I had to go back to work and fill out the time sheet. So now that I am back home I figured I might as well just stay up since the kid should wake up any time. So I bide my time by blogging, playing pogo, and being bit by the cat who is a very playful mood.
Today is a cold and dreary day, so later we are headed to Mcdonalds to play and a trip to the library after that. Let's see what was on our agenda last week? Ah yes, we went bowling on wed and Skylee really liked it. And who wouldn't with the bumpers and a ramp? Of course I forgot my camera so I don't have any pictures from it. I will say that her main concern was that while it was her turn, I was to guard her seat while she was gone. What is so special about her seat you ask? Well it was right next to Austin of course.
Other than that not much else here, I am still trying to get her to try on her costume for a picture, but no luck so far. Next week we are headed to the zoo again with our play group so that will be fun.

I want to take a minute to express my opinion on the Jon and Kate Plus 8 situation.

From what it looks like to me the kids seem to like filming. It isn't all day every day filming. I think they do a few hours, a few days a week. They go to school every day and lead normal lives. Only they get to go to some neat places and see some cool stuff. In my opinion the filming is okay as long as money from each episode is set aside for their future, and that they have a say if they want to do it or not.
I think it might be weird with your parents fighting and not being civil, and having them trade off the kids/house. Your dogs are taken away, and your film crew (who have been their since you were babies) disappears.
Who in a million years would think that Jon would come out of this the bad guy?

He is shacking up with all these diffferent women (one being the babysitter), he buys an expensive New York apartment, wears those God awful Ed Hardy shirts everywhere he goes and wears diamond stud earrings. Now he takes all of the money out of the household account so the mother can't pay the bills. And he stops the filming in the midst of the turmoil. One minute he despises Kate, and the next he haults the divorce so they can reconnect. He is taken off the show, and then has an epiphany that he wants it to stop. Then he empties out the bank account. the man has lost his damn mind.

Weekend Roundup

It's a lovely Sunday night as I sit here at work to give a quick update. I worked this weekend so not much to update ya on the kid. She did score a sweet game, Operation. Thanks to Aunt Tracy!! She has been begging for the Spongebob version for a few weeks. So if this still holds her interest Santa may bring it this year.
It was an unusually quiet weekend at work. It is now day four on my meds and I think I see a difference already. I have always tried to explain my thoughts as several fat people trying to rush out a door in my head at the same time, but they would get stuck as they rushed out. I don't stutter as much and I feel a lot calmer in my downtime. So that is super neat.
Tomorrow is a big day! I may have to testify as a witness in a friend's custody case in the morning, so no sleep for me. But Kylee is a sweet girl who really needs to be with her dad. Her mom is a young mother with lots of kids, no job, no money, no patience, and not enough love. So let's hope it goes well for her and Kain tomorrow.
Then at 2 I have to take some tests in Fayetteville for a new job. It is a big decision, but I think I am making the right choice. I have worked for Lowell for 5 years, and I think I am ready for a change. Fayetteville is a much larger city, they dispatch for fire and police. It starts out $1.22/hr less than what I make now, but the health insurance is a lot cheaper, and they match 3% with 12% for pension. So that will make up for the difference.
I am a true .Virgo and really hate change, the shift is a night shift but will have to work days while training. So we will see how this goes. Brenda asked me what I would do with Skylee while I had to work days. Since Damien isn't working at this point it wont be a problem. I have worked nights and been with Skylee durring the day for over 4 years. I think it is his turn, don't you?
This week in school Skylee will be learning the letter "a" and apples. So we will need to find something to take for show and tell this week. Maybe I can find some apple treats to bring for her classmates. On Wednsday morning she is meeting up with some friends for a power wheel playdate and I will make sure to take a few pics. The girl is very good in her pink Escalade.
Last quick note.... her Native American Halloween costume is almost complete, I will make sure to get a few pics to post if I can get her to try it on. Then it is on to Bruno's buffalo costume!!

Just for my Mom

Okay so my mom asked me when I was going to get back to this blogging thing so this one is just for her. I am currently sitting here with hair dye on my head while the kid is in school. Another thing I would like to thank my mother for, passing on the gray hair gene!!!

So to update you I have a few things. Skylee won a goldfish at the grape festival a few weeks ago, her name is Sookie. Leave it up to my child to have a vampire fetish and name her fish after a Charlaine Harris' character.

We also have a new cat, her name is Flower. She was a stray kitten that befriended Skylee and is super sweet. I took her to the vet and after $100 they de-wormed her, gave her a flea treatment, shots, and declared her a healthy 4 month old cat. She spends her days inside letting Skylee cart her around, and has even taken to playing with Bruno.

It took a little bit before she wasn' afraid of him, but they are great friends now. They even play with the same toy at the same time. She is an amazing mouser, which is coming in handy with the empty field behind our home.

Loves to play with Bruno's toys when he isn't looking

Skylee has started preschool and is loving it. She has a few friends in the class, including her little boyfriend Austin who is so cute and tall like she is. It is kind of funny to see the two of them tower over all the kids in class. She brings home the cutest art work and is really enjoying learning to write, something that she basically has refused to do here at home. She goes two days a week, Tuesday and Thursday and next year starts Kindergarten. I am hoping to get her into the Benton County School of Arts next year, but it is based on a lottery system so we will see.

getting ready for school

Art projects

I think being left handed is making it a little difficult but still not bad.

Yesterday we went to the zoo with our good friend Paula and her two boys Levi and Abe. We had a super good time and it started to rain just as we were leaving. I think Skylee's fave part is the petting zoo, and any kind of animal enclosure that allows her to get very close. The Jaguar has a thick piece of glass that seperates you from it and that is it! We had a nice picnic as soon as we got there and let me tel you Paula makes a mean Chicken salad sandwich.

About me, well my Dr. diagnosed me as ADHD and I started my prescription today, so we will see how that goes. I am really hoping to get better with my memory, finishing projects, less procrastination, and having a better time at work with it. Honestly I hate the random crap that seems to come out of my mouth sometimes and I don't want to be perceived as a weird person or anything. I love my Blackberry and it is the only thing that helps me remember where and when I am supposed to be sometimes. I hate the fact that I feel stupid and upset when it comes to my job. So if this makes me better than I will be happy. And all my friends out there let me know if it is a good change or a bad one. I can only guess if this had been diagnosed earlier where I would be now. Who knows once Skylee goes to kindergarten I can go back to school.
Alrighty that is it for now, it's time to wash this gunk out of my hair!!

Skylee's friend Liam. We have made some amazing friends thru our playgroup.

Trip to the fire station

Yesterday Skylee's playgroup went on a tour of Bentonville's newest fire station. the place was really big and the kids loved it. The firemen themselves were super nice. Skylee has made a new little boyfriend. His name is Austin and is super cute. I hope this gives Skylee a little fix of her firemen issues. If we see them at the grocery store she insists on following them and wants to buy everything that they do.

A few kids got scared when the firefighter put on his scba but Skylee thought it was pretty neat

Sitting in one of the 20 recliners in front of the projection tv.

She got a kick out of the Eagle on the cap.

She and Austin reading from an EMS magazine waiting in the lobby

Can I touch this?

A little funny from work last week. It has been so boring lately with all the rain but I thought this was good.

The officers respond to a verbal disturbance and end up arresting onr of the partys for possession of a controlled substance. And they bring him to the station to cite and release him. He was also accused of stealing money from the other party involved in the dispute.
We have a digital camera that we use to take photos of the accused to go along with reports. the officer took the guys photo and set it down to do the report. He walked away for a sec and came into dispatch looking for the camera. Then they started looking all over for it in the station. Bet you'll never guess where they found it. In the dude's pocket. What? He says it was an accident and he is used to putting shiny things in his pocket because everyone steals from him (huh?) and it also looked like his cell phone( not really)

The moron was released and the camera was put away where it belonged. Who in their right mind tries to steal from the cops?
What was he thinking? ( I know they will never look for it in my pocket)

It's guys like this that keep us in business.

Ice Skating

Skylee has started taking ice skating lessons and they are going really well. She stays up on two feet and that is better than most right? As long as she is in the snow pants to pad the toosh we are happy.

Try to ignore me laughing towards the end when she almost falls
